RPM Alarm Threshold 2D: Sensitivity vs Alarm Fatigue
Interactive 2D remote-patient-monitoring ward and live signal-detection-theory chart: tune the vital-sign alarm threshold and watch sensitivity, specificity and false-alarm rate trade off across a population of streaming telemetry nodes, with the overlapping Gaussian distributions drawn to scale beneath it.
Remote patient monitoring only works if its alarms are trusted, and trust depends entirely on where the threshold is set. This simulator renders a 42-bed telemetry ward where each bed streams a noisy heart-rate signal — most patients healthy, a tunable fraction genuinely critical — and lets you drag the single number a real RPM system alarms on. A live chart beneath the ward draws the two populations' overlapping bell curves to scale, shaded by outcome (true/false positive/negative), so you can see exactly why "just lower the threshold" is never a free fix for alarm fatigue in telehealth monitoring. A one-click Youden's-J button jumps to the statistically optimal cutoff for the current separation.
