🧪 Health Pathology Simulation
Interactive 3D model of granuloma pathology: watch macrophages wall off a persistent pathogen into epithelioid cells and Langhans giant cells, forming a caseous necrotic core and fibrous capsule, or rupture into disseminated disease depending on immune competence and pathogen virulence.
This simulation models pathological changes within the body at a cellular level: how the immune system contains a persistent pathogen it cannot fully clear by building a granuloma. Macrophages recruited to the site engulf the pathogen, transform into epithelioid cells, and fuse into Langhans giant cells that wall off the infection, while a lymphocyte cuff forms around the rim. Depending on pathogen virulence and immune competence, the granuloma may sterilise the infection, settle into a latent fibrotic capsule, develop a caseous necrotic core, or rupture into disseminated disease — the same underlying pattern seen in tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, fungal infections and foreign-body reactions.
This simulation models pathological changes within the body, allowing users to investigate diseases at a cellular level. It demonstrates how disease manifests and progresses through tissues.
