🧪 Health Ophthalmology Simulation
Interactive 3D model of strabismus: unbalance the extraocular rectus muscles to induce esotropia/exotropia and hyper/hypotropia, watch double vision (diplopia) appear, and see how corrective prisms and occlusion (patching) therapy restore fusion or reverse cortical suppression.
This simulation explores eye diseases and visual impairments by isolating one of the most common and instructive ones: strabismus, a misalignment of the eyes caused by imbalanced extraocular muscle forces. A 3D model of both eyes shows the four rectus muscles pulling each globe, with one eye held fixating a target while the other's medial/lateral and superior/inferior muscle forces can be unbalanced to induce esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia or hypotropia. As the visual axes diverge past the fusion range, the simulation reproduces double vision (diplopia) with a live perceived-image readout in prism diopters, and lets you apply a corrective prism or run occlusion (patching) therapy and watch the resulting cortical suppression signal — the mechanism behind amblyopia — rise or fall in real time.
This simulation explores eye diseases and visual impairments, allowing users to understand how different conditions affect vision. It demonstrates the complex processes involved in sight.
