This simulator models the two-compartment (core/shell) bioheat balance that keeps human core temperature near 37 °C, and shows exactly how that regulatory reserve narrows with age. Adjust ambient temperature, activity level and clothing to stress the system, then compare a young adult against a frail elderly patient by moving the age slider — the reduced vasomotor gain, fewer active sweat glands and weaker shivering response built into the model reproduce the real clinical pattern: older adults drift into hypothermia in the cold and heat stroke in the heat measurably faster, and with a smaller safety margin, than younger adults exposed to the identical environment.
