This companion simulator models the same defibrillation physics as a genuinely two-dimensional problem: a single transverse slice of the thorax at heart level, treated as a homogeneous resistive sheet — the abstraction electrical impedance tomography (EIT) uses when it reconstructs conductivity from boundary current injections. Because current sources in an infinite 2D sheet obey a different Green's function than in 3D space, the field here falls off as 1/r instead of 1/r², a real and measurable difference from the volumetric model. Compare anterolateral and anteroposterior electrode placement, dial in delivered energy and transthoracic impedance, and watch the resulting field vectors and the field strength reaching the heart — checked against the same ~5 V/cm clinical defibrillation threshold.
