Interactive X-ray fluorescence spectral-matching simulator: compare a claimed 'UFO debris' sample's elemental peak spectrum against a reference library of aluminum alloy, iron meteorite, industrial slag and silica glass using a real normalized cross-correlation metric.
Every "unidentified" metal fragment claimed as UFO debris can, in principle, be run through the same bench chemistry: X-ray fluorescence or mass spectrometry measures how strongly the sample emits at each element's characteristic energy, producing a spectrum. This simulator synthesizes that spectrum from an adjustable elemental composition, adds realistic detector noise, and scores it against a small reference library — aluminum alloy, iron meteorite, industrial slag, silica glass — using normalized cross-correlation, the standard similarity metric for spectral matching. Watch how a clean signal locks onto its true source material with high confidence, while noise erodes that confidence and can make the match ambiguous.
