🍬 3D Glycocalyx Barrier Simulator
A genuine 3D port of the polymer-brush glycocalyx model — grafted glycan fibers rise from a lipid membrane in true depth, and nanoparticles fall through the mesh under the identical steric-exclusion formula, de Gennes free-energy scaling, and a continuous electrostatic-repulsion/trapping model, now with a free-orbiting camera.
This is a genuine 3D port of the 2D glycocalyx barrier simulation. Two formulas are carried over verbatim from the original engine: the mesh-size interpolation ξ = lerp(28, 7, integrity) nm and the steric exclusion probability clamp((d / (ξ·6))^1.6 · (0.4 + 0.6·integrity), 0, 0.985). The de Gennes insertion free-energy scaling the original prose cites, ΔF/kT ≈ (d/ξ)^(9/4), and the Alexander–de Gennes brush-height relation L ≈ N·a·(a/s)^(2/3), are now computed live and shown in the readout panel, with D_eff/D_free derived as the Boltzmann factor exp(−ΔF/kT). Electrostatics — only a binary on/off flag in the 2D original — is extended into a continuous model: nanoparticle surface charge and a fixed cell-surface zeta potential multiply to give a real repulsive/attractive interaction, so anionic particles are slowed and partially excluded while cationic particles are captured and electrostatically trapped within the brush instead of reaching the membrane, matching the original's own description of cationic nanoparticles being "trapped and neutralized at the periphery."
