Ground-penetrating radar images the shallow subsurface by timing the echo of electromagnetic pulses bounced off buried objects and boundaries. This simulator renders a real soil cross-section holding a buried utility pipe and a subsurface void, moves a radar antenna along the surface exactly as a field survey would, and computes each reflector's true two-way travel time from the electromagnetic wave speed set by the soil's dielectric permittivity. The live radargram panel builds the characteristic reflection hyperbolas in real time as you scan, while the readouts convert a measured travel time back into an estimated depth — the same inversion a geophysicist performs on a real GPR record.
