Formation Choreography: Dancer Spacing & Symmetry
Interactive 3D choreography simulator: assign dancers between stage formations (line, circle, wedge, grid, spiral), watch a nearest-neighbor path-optimizing assignment versus a naive one, and read live minimum spacing, mirror-symmetry and total travel distance.
Choreographing a group number is an assignment problem before it is an art form: given a starting formation and a target formation, which performer moves to which spot, and along what path? This simulator puts a stage of instanced 3D dancers through configurable formation transitions — line, circle, grid, V-wedge, diagonal and a golden-angle spiral — and lets you compare a naive index-order handoff against a greedy nearest-neighbor assignment that shortens and de-crosses the paths, the same heuristic real drill-writing software relies on. Live readouts track the minimum spacing between any two dancers (a collision-safety margin), a mirror-symmetry score of the current arrangement, and the total distance every dancer travels during the transition, so the effect of the optimization is measurable, not just visual.
This simulation allows users to create and experiment with dance choreography. It provides tools for arranging movements and sequences, fostering creativity in dance composition.
