Edge Computing Latency Simulator

Interactive edge-vs-cloud offloading simulator: place edge nodes, tune their processing capacity, and watch requests race between local edge servers and a distant cloud, with live latency, offload-rate and throughput readouts.

This simulation explores the core trade-off of edge computing: process a request close to the user, or send it to a distant, centralized cloud. Client devices continuously generate requests; each one is routed to its nearest edge node if a processing slot is free there, and forwarded to the cloud otherwise. Propagation delay is driven by real 3D distance in the scene, queueing delay grows with how many requests an edge node is already serving, and every request's full journey is animated live. Tune the number of edge nodes, their per-node capacity and processing time, and the request arrival rate to see exactly how distributed processing and network topology change average latency, the edge-offload rate and overall throughput.

⚙ Under the hood

This simulation explores the core principles of edge computing and its impact on reducing latency in data processing networks. Users will manipulate parameters related to distributed processing and network topology to observe how these changes affect communication efficiency.
