🌀 Spiral Gravity Separation: Titanium Mineral Sands (2D)

A physics-driven 2D companion to the 3D titanium sands tour: watch ilmenite and quartz grains migrate across a spiral trough as Stokes settling and flow speed pull the denser mineral inward, then move the splitter to trade recovery against concentrate grade.

This 2D companion drives the same underlying separation principle as the 3D facility tour — density-based gravity separation in a spiral trough — through a plain canvas view built around the actual physics rather than a walkthrough animation: every grain's radial position is computed each frame from its own Stokes settling velocity, so ilmenite (dense) and quartz (light) genuinely separate as they travel five turns down the trough, and a movable splitter at the exit lets you watch recovery and concentrate grade respond live to flow speed, grain size and the feed mix.

⚙ Under the hood

2D spiral-concentrator lab: per-grain Stokes settling velocity v = (ρp−ρwater)·g·d²/(18μ) drives radial migration across a 5-turn trough, with a movable splitter separating concentrate from tailings and a live recovery/grade readout.
