Waterfall Splash Physics (2D)

Interactive 2D side-view waterfall simulator: water leaves the ledge in real projectile motion, quadratic air drag pulls it toward a size-dependent terminal velocity as it falls, and impact speed drives a genuine splash-spray and rising-mist burst at the plunge pool.

This 2D side-view simulator follows real water physics down a waterfall: each parcel leaves the ledge with a horizontal exit speed set by the flow rate, then falls under gravity while quadratic air drag bends its path toward a size-dependent terminal velocity — bigger droplets fall faster and straighter, fine spray drifts and slows. Impact speed at the plunge pool drives a genuine two-part splash: heavier spray droplets arc back into the pool while fine mist, whose own terminal velocity is tiny, rises on a gentle air current and fades. Adjust fall height, flow rate and droplet size to see how each one reshapes the fall, the impact speed and the mist column above the pool.
