A frame of comb is trimmed into a saw-tooth edge and given to a strong colony to draw fresh wax below each notch, placing the youngest brood exactly where a queenless cell-builder colony will raise emergency queen cells hanging freely downward — no grafting tool required.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Nurse bees only convert larvae inside a narrow age window into queens; the simulation shows how the notching age chosen determines how many larvae are eligible, and how those cells elongate and cap over the following days.

🎮 How to Use

Set the larva age at notching and watch which notch tips glow green (ideal) versus red (too old). Advance the days-since-introduction slider to grow and cap the queen cells, and add more comb strips to raise a bigger batch.
