👑 Introducing a New Queen Without Losing Her
Interactive 3D hive-introduction cage where adjusting candy-plug release timing and colony acceptance pheromone cues shows simulated worker bees shifting from aggression to acceptance.
A candy-plug queen cage hangs between two frames while colony workers gradually shift from hostile mobbing to calm acceptance as time, pheromone strength and colony temperament interact.
🔬 What It Demonstrates
Acceptance rises with days caged and queen pheromone quality, and falls with the receiving colony's baseline aggression. Releasing the queen before acceptance is high enough risks a visible balling event.
🎮 How to Use
Advance the days-caged slider to watch the candy plug erode and acceptance build, tune pheromone quality and colony aggression, then try an early "Release queen now" to see the consequences.
💡 Did You Know?
A standard candy plug takes worker bees roughly 2–4 days to chew through — a built-in delay that lets a colony recognise a new queen's scent before ever making direct contact with her.
