🧪 Technology System Design Simulation
Interactive distributed-systems simulator: watch requests flow through a load balancer into a bank of backend servers under Round Robin, Least Connections or Weighted routing, with live queueing, service time, throughput and failover behaviour.
This simulation demonstrates the principles of system design by modelling a real distributed-systems building block: a load balancer routing a Poisson stream of requests across a bank of backend servers, each with its own FIFO queue and finite service capacity. Choose between Round Robin, Least Connections and capacity-Weighted Random routing, dial in arrival rate and server heterogeneity, and even fail a server mid-run to see how each strategy adapts. Live readouts track throughput, average latency, peak queue depth and dropped-request count — the same metrics a real infrastructure dashboard shows — so you can see directly how routing strategy and traffic shape overall system stability and performance.
This simulation demonstrates the principles of system design by allowing users to explore different technological configurations and their interactions. It highlights how components within a system can influence overall performance and stability.
