Soil washing is a physical ex-situ remediation technique: because contaminants preferentially adsorb onto the fine clay and silt fraction of a soil (higher surface area per unit mass), grinding the sample down to individual particle sizes and running it through a hydrocyclone classifier separates a reusable clean coarse fraction from a smaller, concentrated contaminated fines fraction. This simulator models a real soil-washing plant in 3D — a mixed feed of particles from clay through gravel falls from the feed hopper, attrition scrubbing strips contaminated coatings off coarse grains, and the hydrocyclone's cut size sorts every particle into the clean pile or the contaminated pile. Adjust the cut size, scrub intensity, contaminant type and number of wash passes and watch the live readouts track total contaminant removed, the fraction of soil mass recovered as clean fill, and the residual concentration left in the treated coarse output against a regulatory threshold.
