Volcanic Lava Diversion (2D)

A 2D cellular-automaton lava-flow lab: drag on the terrain to build engineered barriers that redirect an advancing flow away from a town marker, with live effusion, viscosity/cooling and slope controls.

This 2D companion trades the 3D original's decorative orbiting-camera scene for a top-down cellular-automaton model of the actual mechanic implied by its title: lava mass redistributes each frame toward lower-height neighbouring cells (terrain + solidified rock + any barrier you've built), cools and solidifies once its temperature drops, and barriers you drag onto the terrain hold back the flow until lava piles high enough to overtop and erode them — so diverting the flow away from the town marker is a real consequence of where you build, not a cosmetic slider.

⚙ Under the hood

Cellular-automaton lava transport (height-difference mass redistribution), temperature-driven solidification, and erodible user-placed barriers — a genuine hazard-diversion mechanic in place of the 3D version's generic particle-field template.
