Mine Rehabilitation: Reclamation Timeline (2D)

2D cross-section model of open-pit mine reclamation: backfilling, soil thickness, rainfall and a wetland toggle drive a vegetation-cover and slope-stability formula over a 30-year timeline, matching the 3D version's own math.

This 2D companion reduces the 3D reclamation scene to its cross-section, driven by the same radial pit-plus-berm profile and the same vegetation-cover and slope-stability formulas: a side panel exposes the reclamation year, soil cap thickness, annual rainfall and a wetland toggle, and the canvas redraws the terrain colour, waterline and scattered trees/shrubs live as those inputs change, so the effect of each variable on the reclaimed landscape is visible directly instead of inferred from a rotating scene.

⚙ Under the hood

2D cross-section reclamation model: pit backfill, vegetation cover and slope stability are computed from the reclamation year, soil cap thickness and rainfall, with an optional wetland that floods the pit floor over time.
