Liquid Cooling Data Center 2D: Rack Heat & Coolant Loop
Interactive 2D energy-balance model of a liquid-cooled data center: compute load, coolant flow rate, ambient temperature and radiator fan speed drive rack temperature, coolant supply temperature and PUE in real time.
This 2D companion strips the data-center hall down to its energy balance: eight racks generate heat proportional to compute load, a coolant loop carries that heat toward a radiator whose rejection to ambient air scales with fan speed, and a chiller adds its own power draw when the coolant runs hotter than the outside air. Push the load up or the flow down and watch rack temperature climb toward the throttle line while PUE — the real ratio of total facility power to IT power — rises with it; a Load Spike button injects a transient surge so you can see how quickly the loop recovers.
