Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage: PCT Isotherm Simulator

Interactive metal-hydride hydrogen storage simulator: watch a metal alloy bed absorb and release hydrogen as you change temperature and applied H2 pressure, driven by the real van't Hoff equilibrium (PCT) equation with absorption/desorption hysteresis.

Metal-hydride tanks store hydrogen by binding it directly into a metal alloy lattice, rather than compressing or liquefying the gas. This simulator drives that reaction with the real van 't Hoff equilibrium equation: pick an alloy (LaNi₅, TiFe or MgH₂), set a bed temperature and an applied hydrogen pressure, and watch the 3D lattice fill with absorbed hydrogen atoms — or empty out again — exactly as fast as the gap between your applied pressure and the temperature-dependent plateau pressure allows, complete with absorption/desorption hysteresis, live heat flow, and a PCT isotherm plot for the selected alloy.

⚙ Under the hood

Choose a hydrogen-storage alloy (LaNi5, TiFe or MgH2), set bed temperature and applied H2 pressure, and watch the 3D lattice absorb or release hydrogen exactly as driven by the real van't Hoff equilibrium pressure and absorption/desorption hysteresis.
