Dyeing, rinsing and finishing baths in textile mills are drained hot and immediately refilled with cold mains water — a huge, routinely wasted source of thermal energy. This simulator models a real counter-flow heat exchanger that recovers heat from the outgoing hot wastewater to preheat the incoming fresh water for the next batch, using the effectiveness-NTU method (balanced counter-flow, Cr=1). Adjust the dye-bath discharge temperature, mains water temperature, flow rate and exchanger size (UA) and watch the two counter-flowing streams — rendered as colored 3D tubes with flowing particles — settle into their linear temperature profiles, while live readouts track the recovered heat power, the preheated water temperature, and the percentage of the next bath's heating energy that recovery alone supplies.
