A combined heat-and-power plant captures the exhaust heat a conventional power plant would otherwise dump up a cooling tower, and routes it into a district-heating network instead of burning extra fuel in a separate boiler. This simulation runs both approaches side by side against the same electricity and heat demand: watch the fuel, electricity and heat particle streams, the cooling-tower waste plume on the separate side, and the topping-boiler kick in on the CHP side whenever recovered heat can't cover the full heat demand. Adjust demand and plant efficiencies to see how the fuel-savings gap opens and closes.
