Energy Storage: A Primer (2D)

2D companion lab: drive the same battery, pumped-hydro and capacitor storage equations through a flat gauge, a scrolling stored-energy chart and a running round-trip-loss counter.

This 2D companion drives the same three storage models as the 3D version — a battery integrating charge power against a round-trip efficiency, a pumped-hydro pair storing energy as gravitational potential (E = m·g·h), and a capacitor bank storing it in an electric field (E = ½CV²) — through a flat gauge view built for reading the numbers rather than orbiting a scene: a technology selector swaps between them, a power-draw slider and charge/discharge toggle drive the same physics, and a scrolling chart plus a running "lost to losses" counter make the efficiency trade-off between fast-responding batteries/capacitors and bulk pumped-hydro storage directly visible over time instead of only implied by a stat readout.

⚙ Under the hood

2D energy-storage primer comparing a battery, a pumped-hydro pair and a capacitor bank, each charging and discharging against its own round-trip efficiency, with a scrolling stored-energy chart and a cumulative loss counter.
