Gravity Block Energy Storage (2D)
Interactive 2D gravity-block energy storage simulator: a heavy block rises and falls on a tower cable, with separate motor-up and generator-down efficiencies, a live energy-flow diagram and a measured round-trip efficiency check.
This 2D cross-section models the same solid-mass gravity storage physics as the 3D crane-tower simulator: surplus grid electricity lifts a heavy block up a tower on a winch cable, and lowering it back down drives a generator that returns electricity to the grid. The engine tracks motor-up efficiency and generator-down efficiency separately, so the round-trip efficiency shown live is genuinely the product of two independent conversion losses rather than a single dial — and a running tally of every joule in and out across a full charge/discharge cycle lets you verify that product against the actual measured energy balance.
Lift and lower concrete blocks with a crane tower to store and release grid electricity as gravitational potential energy — tune block mass, motor power and round-trip efficiency and watch state of charge, stored energy and power flow respond in real time.
