Anchoring Bias Simulator
Interactive anchoring-and-adjustment simulator: a crowd of agents estimates a real-world quantity after seeing a random anchor number, and a live 3D histogram shows how far their final guesses drift from the truth toward that first number.
This simulator recreates Tversky and Kahneman's classic anchoring-and-adjustment experiment in 3D: 180 agents each hold a private, noisy belief about a real quantity, then get shown an anchor number before answering. Instead of reporting their true belief, each agent adjusts away from the anchor by a fraction k — and because that adjustment is systematically insufficient, the whole crowd's final estimates drift toward whatever anchor they happened to see, regardless of the truth. Watch the population "rain" down into a live histogram and settle around a point pulled between the anchor and the real answer, then change the anchor, the adjustment sensitivity or the prior uncertainty to see the bias grow or shrink in real time.
