Sensor Network Coverage Simulator
Interactive ecological monitoring network simulator: a rare event spawns and spreads at a random location, and sparse ground stations, dense ground stations or a satellite overlay race to detect it — compare time-to-detection and spread radius across trials.
Ground monitoring stations only detect a spreading ecological event once it physically reaches within their fixed sensing radius, so sparse networks leave blind spots where an event can grow large before anyone notices — while dense networks or a satellite overlay catch the same event far sooner. Tune the station spacing, toggle the satellite overlay, and spawn repeated randomized events to compare time-to-detection and spread radius at detection across trials.
A rare ecological event spawns and spreads at a random spot on the map, and ground monitoring stations only notice it once its growing edge reaches within their fixed sensing radius. Compare time-to-detection and spread radius across trials as you tune station spacing and toggle a full-coverage satellite overlay.
