Fish Farm Benthic Impact Simulator
Interactive 3D net-pen aquaculture simulator: watch uneaten feed and fish feces sink from a fish cage and disperse with the current, building a live seafloor heatmap of organic enrichment and benthic-community shift whose severity and footprint respond to stocking density and current strength.
An open-water fish farm doesn't spread its organic waste evenly across the ocean floor — it deposits it in a localized footprint directly beneath and downcurrent of the net-pens, where uneaten feed and concentrated fish faeces sink out of the water column and accumulate faster than sediment bacteria can safely break it down. This simulator tracks that footprint in real time: adjust stocking density and local current strength and watch the seafloor heatmap shift between a diverse, oxygen-rich benthic community and a degraded, oxygen-poor zone dominated by pollution-tolerant opportunists, while peak-severity and affected-area readouts quantify the trade-off.
