Arrested Succession (2D): Passive vs Active Ecological Restoration

2D top-down restoration lab: choose passive recovery or pay to replant the key species, and watch a degraded plot reach maturity or stall forever without a seed source.

This 2D companion runs the same succession model as the 3D version on a flat top-down plot: toggle whether a nearby seed source exists, choose passive recovery or pay to actively replant the key species, and watch the plot either climb through pioneer weeds, shrub, thicket and forest to a mature climax, or stall forever at the early-secondary bottleneck without help.

⚙ Under the hood

Progress advances by a fixed per-year rate below a bottleneck fraction; past it, passive mode needs a per-year stochastic chance of natural key-species arrival (only if a seed source is present), while active mode unlocks it instantly for a fixed cost.
