Blockchain Block Propagation & Scalability
Interactive 3D gossip-network simulator: broadcast blocks across a peer-to-peer node graph, tune block size and link bandwidth, and watch propagation delay drive stale-block risk and transaction throughput.
Every block a miner finds has to physically travel across a peer-to-peer network before the rest of the world agrees it exists — and that journey takes real time. This simulator renders a 3D gossip network of nodes and lets you broadcast blocks across it, tuning block size and link bandwidth to see propagation delay rise or fall in real time. Live stats translate that delay into the two things it actually governs on a real blockchain: stale-block (orphan) risk via the standard Decker–Wattenhofer approximation, and realised transaction throughput once wasted, orphaned work is discounted. A small header-hash panel alongside it demonstrates the avalanche effect that makes proof-of-work hash search fundamentally unshortcuttable.
This simulation allows you to explore the core mechanics of a technologically advanced blockchain network, including consensus algorithms and transaction validation. By manipulating parameters like block size and hashing functions, observe how these choices impact network security and efficiency.
