Stroop Effect: LCA Phase-Space Race (2D)

2D phase-plane simulator of the Stroop effect's Leaky Competing Accumulator model: watch the (color-naming, word-reading) activation state trace a trajectory toward an L-shaped decision boundary, with congruency, automaticity, threshold and noise controls plus a live reaction-time histogram.

The Stroop effect — the extra time it takes to name a word's ink color when the word itself names a different color — is one of the most replicated findings in cognitive psychology. This simulator renders the Leaky Competing Accumulator race as a 2D phase-plane trajectory: the state point (x_C, x_W) traces a live path across the plane, ending the instant it crosses the L-shaped decision boundary formed by the two threshold lines. Switching between congruent, neutral and incongruent trials changes how the word pathway's drive bends the trajectory, reproducing the classic pattern of faster congruent responses, a neutral baseline, and slower, more error-prone incongruent responses — while a live 2D histogram builds up the reaction-time distribution for each condition trial by trial.
