Vector-Borne Disease Range Shift
Interactive climate-health simulator: raise the warming-severity slider and scrub through 1990-2100 to watch the mosquito-vector suitable temperature band creep poleward across a latitude landscape, crossing a previously disease-free city and igniting local transmission risk while a historically endemic region stays managed.
Mosquito-borne diseases only persist where both the mosquito and the pathogen it carries can complete their life cycles inside the same temperature window. This simulator maps that window onto a latitude landscape as a glowing suitable-range band, then lets you raise a warming-severity slider and scrub through 1990–2100 to watch the band's edge migrate poleward — crossing a previously disease-free city and switching on transmission risk for a population with no prior exposure, while a historically endemic city stays comparatively stable thanks to generations of accumulated immunity and surveillance.
