🧪 Sustainable Consumption Simulation
Interactive 3D life-cycle breakeven simulator: watch a disposable item's cumulative footprint climb linearly against a reusable item's upfront-plus-per-use footprint, and find the exact number of uses where switching actually pays off.
Sustainable consumption is rarely a simple "reusable is always better" story — it depends on how many times an item actually gets reused before the embodied footprint of making it pays for itself. This simulator grows two 3D towers of stacked blocks in real time: one tracking a disposable item's linearly climbing footprint, use by use, and one tracking a reusable item's large upfront manufacturing footprint plus a small per-use washing cost. Switch between coffee cups, water bottles, shopping bags and razors, tune how often the item gets used, how durable the reusable version is before it needs replacing, and how much its upkeep costs — then watch the breakeven use-count where the reusable tower finally overtakes the disposable one, exactly as a real life-cycle assessment would calculate it.
This simulation investigates the impact of consumer choices on the environment. It likely demonstrates how reducing waste, choosing eco-friendly products, and adopting sustainable consumption patterns can contribute to a more sustainable future.
