📅 The Seasonal Beekeeping Calendar

A 3D cutaway UK beehive that plays through the beekeeping year: drag the month slider to watch colony population, brood, honey stores, forager flights and the winter cluster rise and fall with the seasons.

A cutaway 3D UK beehive whose brood nest, honey stores, colony population, forager flights and winter cluster all respond to a single month slider — plus region and colony-strength controls — so you can see how the beekeeping year actually unfolds.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Frames shift between brood (tan), honey (amber) and empty comb as the seasonal curves move; a tight winter cluster forms inside the hive when forager activity drops, loosening into dispersed frames and busy outdoor flights as the year warms.

🎮 How to Use

Drag the month slider or press "Play year" to auto-advance it. Switch region to see Scotland's colder, later season lag Southern England's, and adjust colony strength to compare a weak colony with a booming one at the same time of year.

💡 Did You Know?

A UK colony's population can swing more than tenfold across the year — from a small overwintering cluster in January to 50,000+ bees at the June-July nectar flow peak — all timed by day length and forage rather than the calendar itself.

⚙ Under the hood

A 3D cutaway UK beehive driven by a month slider: colony population, brood-nest size, honey stores, outdoor forager flights and the winter cluster all animate through simplified seasonal curves, with region and colony-strength controls to compare Southern England against a colder, later Scottish season.
