Grid Carbon Intensity Mixer
Interactive 3D power-grid mixer: set the share of coal, gas, nuclear, hydro, wind and solar and watch smokestack emissions and the blended grid carbon intensity (g CO2/kWh) respond in real time.
Electricity from different sources is not equally clean: burning coal emits roughly 60 times more CO2 per kilowatt-hour than wind or nuclear power. This simulator lets you set the share of coal, gas, nuclear, hydro, wind and solar in a power grid and watch six smokestacks emit particles at a rate proportional to each source's real carbon intensity and its share of demand, while a central column and live meter track the blended grid average in grams of CO2 per kilowatt-hour. Adjust the annual demand slider to see how the same mix translates into total tonnes of CO2 released per year, and compare against the EU's post-transition average.
