Green Facade Cooling: 2D Side-Elevation Energy Balance
Interactive 2D energy-balance simulator: a side-on elevation view compares a bare masonry wall to a living green facade. Drag to pan and scroll to zoom while you tune solar irradiance, leaf area index, soil moisture and wind, watching the same Newton-Raphson steady-state surface balance as the 3D version resolve in a flat, inspectable cross-section.
This 2D companion to the 3D green-facade simulator keeps the exact same physics — a steady-state surface energy balance solved live by Newton–Raphson for a bare masonry wall and a living green facade, with Beer–Lambert canopy shading and evapotranspiration splitting absorbed solar energy into latent versus sensible heat — but renders it as a flat, pannable, zoomable side elevation instead of an orbiting 3D scene. Drag the canvas to pan and scroll or pinch to zoom while you tune solar irradiance, canopy density (leaf area index), soil moisture and wind speed, and watch both walls' surface temperatures, the leaf canopy's density and the rising water-vapor plume respond in real time.
A 2D pannable, zoomable side-elevation companion to the 3D green-facade simulator: the same steady-state Newton-Raphson energy balance compares a bare masonry wall to a living green facade, with Beer-Lambert canopy shading, evapotranspiration and a rising vapor plume drawn as native 2D primitives you can drag to pan and scroll to zoom.
