Low-Carbon Mobility: Travel Footprint Race (2D)

Five vehicles set off across the same distance -- a short-haul flight, a petrol car, an electric car, a local bus and a national train -- each burning fuel or electricity at its own real-world rate. A pannable 2D lane view shows them racing while a live chart plots each mode's cumulative CO2-equivalent footprint (published average emission factors in grams of CO2e per passenger-kilometre) against distance covered, with the flight's figure further scaled by an adjustable radiative-forcing index for its extra high-altitude warming effect, and car/EV factors scalable by passenger occupancy. Toggle modes, set the trip distance, drag the track to pan, and watch how far mode choice alone can spread the same journey's footprint.
