Bomb Calorimeter: Food Caloric Value Analysis

Interactive bomb calorimeter: burn a carbohydrate, protein, or fat sample in an oxygen bomb submerged in water and measure the temperature rise to calculate the food's caloric value in kcal/g, exactly as nutrient analysis labs do.

Nutrient analysis labs measure how many calories a food actually contains by burning a weighed sample completely inside a sealed oxygen "bomb" submerged in water, then reading how far the temperature of that water rises. This simulator renders a real 3D bomb calorimeter — pick a carbohydrate, protein, or fat sample, set its mass and the water bath mass, and ignite it to watch the combustion heat the bath and the thermometer climb to a plateau. The measured caloric value in kcal/g is computed live from the same q = (m·c + C_bomb)·ΔT relationship used in real ASTM/ISO calorimetry, and compared against reference bomb-calorimetry values for each macronutrient.
