Chromatography Column Separation
Interactive 3D simulation of column chromatography: inject a four-component mixture, watch each analyte migrate through the packed stationary phase at its own retention-factor-dependent speed, and read the resulting chromatogram peaks as they elute at the detector.
Chromatography separates a mixture by exploiting how differently each component partitions between a stationary phase (packed into a column) and a mobile phase (a solvent flowing through it). This simulation injects a four-analyte mixture at the top of a packed column and lets each molecule migrate downward at a speed set by its own retention factor. Switch between reverse-phase (C18) and normal-phase (silica) chemistry, tune the eluent strength and flow rate, and watch the detector strip-chart build a real chromatogram as the bands separate and elute one after another.
