Firecracker Chain Reaction 2D: Fuse-Burn Kinetics

Interactive 2D side-view simulation of a firecracker string igniting one after another via real fuse-burn-rate and heat-transfer kinetics — drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and click the fuse to light it.

This side-view simulation follows a string of firecrackers linked by a common fuse: the flame burns down each segment at a fixed rate, jumps the splice to the next cracker if the contact holds, and that cracker's own rapid pressure buildup pops it before (or instead of) relighting the chain for its neighbor. Nothing propagates on a script — the burn rate, splice contact quality and humidity together decide whether the flame makes it to the end of the string or dies out partway, the same way a real damp or poorly-wrapped fuse chain can fizzle outdoors.

⚙ Under the hood

A 2D side-view string of firecrackers linked by a common fuse, each igniting the next after a real fuse-burn-time delay and a probabilistic heat-transfer check at every splice that can genuinely stall the chain.
