Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) slows spoilage by sealing fresh food into an engineered gas blend instead of ordinary air. This 2D simulator models the two processes that actually set the atmosphere inside a real package over time: the produce's own respiration, which consumes O2 and releases CO2 at a rate governed by Michaelis–Menten kinetics and Q10 temperature scaling, and diffusion of both gases through the packaging film, driven by the concentration gradient against outside air and the film's own permeability. Pick a film type, storage temperature and produce loading, then watch the O2/CO2 curves converge to a steady state on a live chart as the headspace balance — and the product's quality index — evolve inside a 2D package cross-section.
