🧪 3D Sculpting Simulation
Sculpt a solid of revolution on a virtual potter's wheel: carve a spinning radius profile with a chisel tool and watch the lathe mesh update live, with real-time volume computed by the disk-integration method.
This simulation demonstrates digital sculpting through the lathe technique: a form is defined entirely by its radius profile r(y) and generated by revolving that profile around a central axis, the same principle behind a potter's wheel and CNC lathe turning. Pick a starting shape, switch into Carve mode, and drag a chisel tool directly against the spinning form to remove or build up material — the mesh regenerates in real time from the updated profile. Live readouts track the swept volume via the disk-integration method, the maximum radius, and the polygon resolution of the revolved surface, tying the interaction back to the underlying calculus and 3D-modelling technique.
This simulation demonstrates the principles of digital sculpting, allowing users to manipulate a virtual form in three dimensions. It explores techniques for shaping and refining objects through iterative adjustments, showcasing fundamental concepts related to spatial reasoning and artistic creation.
