Muscle Satellite Cell Activation

Adult skeletal muscle carries its own dedicated stem cell: the satellite cell, a quiescent Pax7-expressing cell wedged between a muscle fiber and its basal lamina. This simulator renders a real 3D myofiber seeded with a resting satellite-cell pool and lets you trigger an injury: nearby quiescent cells activate under a decaying HGF/c-Met signal, express MyoD, and proliferate as transient myoblasts. A tunable self-renewal probability then governs each division's fate — return to the quiescent reserve, or commit and fuse into the fiber to repair the damage — with live population counts and a repair-progress readout tracking the stochastic population dynamics in real time.
