🐧 Penguin Huddle Thermodynamics: Heat Loss, Packing Density and Rotation

Wind chill, plumage conduction and radiation set the heat loss of every emperor penguin in a 200 to 1000 bird huddle; birds on the windward edge walk round to the lee side, and the lab measures how that rotation equalises heat loss (fairness index), the packing-density saving and the warm air inside, with thermal-camera and heat-map views. Unlike the other huddle labs it solves a depth-averaged 2-D heat field and a per-bird series-resistance budget.

⚙ Under the hood

Each emperor penguin in a 50 to 1000 bird huddle has its own heat budget (wind-dependent convection, radiation, plumage and fat in series, fat reserve), the huddle's warm-air field is solved on a 2-D grid, and birds on the windward edge walk to the lee side; the lab measures how that rotation equalises heat loss (fairness index) versus a static huddle. Unlike the other penguin huddle labs it adds the per-bird series-resistance budget, a heat-diffusion field with thermal-camera view and numerical self-checks.
