Bioreactor Fermentation Simulator

Interactive stirred-tank bioreactor: watch microbial biomass, substrate and product concentrations evolve under real Monod growth kinetics, oxygen transfer and Luedeking-Piret product formation. Tune dilution rate, feed substrate, aeration (kLa) and temperature and watch chemostat washout happen in real time.

Industrial biotechnology — recombinant insulin, vaccines, industrial enzymes, biofuel ethanol — is built on the stirred-tank bioreactor: a vessel that keeps a microbial or cell culture fed, aerated and mixed so it converts substrate into biomass and product at a controlled, predictable rate. This simulator runs the real unstructured kinetic model behind that process — Monod growth limited jointly by substrate and dissolved oxygen, Luedeking-Piret product formation, and a first-order oxygen mass-transfer balance — so the population of cells, the substrate pool and the product titer evolve exactly as the differential equations dictate. Push the dilution rate past the critical value and watch the culture wash out in real time; starve the aeration and watch dissolved oxygen collapse and throttle growth even with plenty of sugar left in the tank.
