Honeypot Ant Living Storage (2D)
2D honeypot-ant colony: foragers shuttle nectar from surface flowers to living-storage repletes in the nest chamber, filling their gasters until a drought draws the stockpile back out.
This 2D companion drives the same forage → fill → drought loop as the 3D scene through a plain top-down canvas: foragers cycle between surface nectar sources and a chamber of hanging repletes, each replete's gaster fill rises only when a forager delivers a droplet and falls only when a drought — automatic on a timer or triggered manually — forces the colony to tap its living pantry, making the storage economy that gives honeypot ants their name directly readable as numbers and color instead of a rendered 3D nest.

A replete is a specialized worker whose gaster (abdomen) is repeatedly fed nectar or honeydew by foragers until it swells into a living storage vessel. Colonies keep dozens of them hanging from the ceiling of a dedicated chamber as a food reserve.
On a timer (or when you click the button), the simulation drains roughly half the stock from the fullest repletes, counts the droplets released, and resets their fill — mirroring how a real colony taps its living pantry when foraging outside becomes scarce.
Amber dots are foragers heading out empty; orange dots are foragers carrying nectar back toward the chamber to feed a replete.
