Cryogenic Propellant Loading Control

Interactive 3D cryogenic fueling simulator: drive a closed-loop valve controller that loads LOX and LH2 into a rocket's tanks toward a target oxidizer/fuel mass ratio while the ideal gas law (PV=nRT) governs ullage pressure, boil-off and automatic venting.

This simulator models the automated fueling sequence at a launch pad: a closed-loop valve controller meters liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen into a rocket's onboard tanks toward a target oxidizer-to-fuel mass ratio, while the ideal gas law governs how ullage pressure rises as each tank fills and as ambient heat boils off a trickle of vapor. An automatic relief valve vents vapor whenever pressure crosses your chosen setpoint, mirroring the real safety systems used during cryogenic propellant loading before launch. Tune the mixture ratio, valve flow rate, heat leak and vent setpoint and watch the two tanks — and their pressures — respond in real time.
