Endovenous Laser Ablation: Bioheat & Thermal Damage Lab (2D)

2D EVLA thermal lab: a finite-difference Pennes bioheat simulation runs along the withdrawing fiber path, coupling laser power from live LEED and pullback-speed sliders to vein-wall heating and an Arrhenius damage integral, so you can watch the coagulation front build and see whether it reaches full-length closure.

This 2D companion replaces the 3D version's procedural stage walkthrough with the actual physics underneath it: a finite-difference Pennes bioheat solver runs along the 70 mm segment of vein being treated, driven by a moving Gaussian laser source whose power is derived live from the LEED and pullback-speed sliders, and every node accumulates an Arrhenius thermal-damage integral that decides, node by node, whether that point of vein wall actually coagulates. Push LEED too low or pullback too fast for the chosen vein diameter and the damage front visibly stalls partway down the segment — a patent vein and a failed ablation, exactly as the underlying kinetics predict rather than as a scripted outcome.

⚙ Under the hood

2D EVLA bioheat lab: a 71-node finite-difference Pennes equation solver with a moving Gaussian laser source and a per-node Arrhenius thermal-damage integral, exposing LEED, pullback speed and vein diameter as live sliders.
