Smart Bus Bunching & AI Headway Control
Interactive 3D simulation of an intelligent public transit system: buses on a shared loop drift into bunched clusters under passenger demand and traffic congestion, and a toggleable AI headway controller senses gaps in real time and holds buses at stops to spread them back out.
Buses running the same fixed loop naturally drift into clumps whenever one falls even briefly behind schedule — a longer queue at its next stop means a longer dwell, which pushes it further behind, while the following bus catches up. This simulation puts a whole fleet on a shared loop, lets passenger demand and a patch of road congestion destabilize the spacing, and lets you switch on the same real-time holding control that Advanced Intelligent Public Transportation Systems use to sense each vehicle's gap to its neighbours and hold it just long enough to restore even, reliable headways.
