Statistical mechanics explains the macroscopic laws of thermodynamics — temperature, pressure, entropy — as the statistical behavior of huge numbers of microscopic particles. This simulator tracks a chamber of independent gas particles whose velocities are drawn from a Maxwell–Boltzmann distribution set by a temperature you control, with a live histogram comparing the measured speeds against the theoretical curve. A removable partition lets you run the classic free-expansion experiment: confine the gas to one half of the chamber, then pull the wall away and watch the spatial entropy climb in real time as the gas fills the available volume — a direct, visual demonstration of the second law of thermodynamics.
