🔴 Earth–Mars Transfer Window Lab: Porkchop Plot, Lambert Solver and the 26-Month Cycle

Click a cell of a live porkchop plot and watch a Lambert-solved Earth to Mars transfer fly in 3D: C3, arrival speed and delta-v for every launch and arrival date, with the 26-month window cycle. Distinct from the bi-elliptic-vs-Hohmann sim: this is the window, porkchop and Lambert lab.

⚙ Under the hood

Click a cell of a live porkchop plot (launch date x arrival date) and watch a Lambert-solved Earth to Mars transfer fly in 3D, with C3, arrival v-infinity, capture and total delta-v, the 26-month window cycle (synodic period 779.9 d), Type I/II orbits and a payload-vs-C3 curve. Planet positions use JPL Keplerian elements; experiments check the solver against the analytic Hohmann transfer and the window spacing against the synodic period. Distinct from the bi-elliptic-vs-Hohmann sim: this is the window, porkchop and Lambert lab.
